Michael (Mike) Kamimoto’s management and consulting career spans over twenty-five years and six different industries. His diverse industry background includes nonprofits, healthcare, insurance, software, manufacturing, multimedia, consumer electronics, restaurants, financial services and the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee.

After working for six years as the Human Resource Director for HealthWest, a multi-hospital organization in Los Angeles, Mike joined the LAOOC as the first outside Human Resources Manager. His department, Medical Services, developed the pre-game concept of Venue’ human resource management and Mike was its spearhead.

After the Olympics, Mike worked for Ticor Title Insurance; a 5000 employee company based in Los Angeles, and developed their first national recruitment program and revamped the corporation compensation plans. In 1987 he began working for Candle Corporation and was responsible for the creation of their first HR Representative program. In 1990, he was drawn to Fujitsu Systems of America based in San Diego where, Mike was instrumental in developing a cross-cultural orientation program that insured successful collaboration between the American and Japanese management teams. Relocating to the Bay area in 1993, Mike working for Reuters America as its first Human Resources Manager for the Western District. In this role he became the primary facilitator for their corporate consolidation initiative.

In 1997 he established HR Networking LLC and has worked as the principal management consultant for several California internet start-ups and restarts including Berkeley Systems, Stellcom and Sonicblue. In 2004 he began HR Benefit Solutions as its principal Human Resources Consultant and Agent.

Outside of his daily work, Mike is one of the founding members of Asian for Miracle Marrow Matches (A3M). This non-profit, bone marrow recruitment agency, funded by the National Marrow Donor Program, has increased Asian, South-East Asian and Indian participation in the national bone marrow registry by over 1000% resulting in hundreds of life saving marrow matches. In addition, he served for four years on the Board of Directors for the Berkeley Chapter of the JACL including two years as their President, and current serves on the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee.Mike is a graduate of California State University at Northridge and holds an MBA from Pepperdine University.

Joel is currently the Senior Project Manager in the Financial Planning division for Sempra Utilities, the combined utilities of SDG&E and Southern California Gas Company. He recently moved to this role from his position as the Senior HR Advisor and business partner for the VPs of Finance and Accounting, Regulatory Affairs, Strategic and Resource fanning, External Affairs, Electric and Gas Procurement.

Prior to SDG&E, Joel was the VP of Global Marketing for DRMS. DRMS is an international surplus wholesaler, headquartered in Michigan. Before DRMS, Joel was an HR Manager with General Dynamics International, specializing in establishing new businesses operations in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, Korea, and Venezuela. At General Dynamics he was the lead in-country point person to develop business economics and ex-pat policies and protocols, and recruitment efforts for senior project staff. While at General Dynamics he led various HR and project leadership roles with General Dynamics’ Convair operations including recruitment, compensation, and integrated manufacturing.

Joel has over 30 years of leadership positions in Human Resources, Marketing, Operations, and Engineering. He is the past president and/or board member of a number of professional or advisory boards, including the Department of Labor’s National Employer Advisory Council and the California Fair Employment and Housing Commission Advisory Board.

Joel is also a retired US Navy Captain, with a military career in Special Operations. Joel has a B.S. Mathematics from the University of North Carolina and an MBA from National University. He has been an adjunct professor at USIU, UCSD, SDSU, and NU

Customer Service Manager

Star has over seven years of operations experience assisting executive management in training, coordinating and implementing company core values in both in English and Spanish.

Prior to joining HR Benefit Solutions, Star was a Case Manager and Job Developer for the Community Action Board in Santa Cruz, California and an HR Administrative Assistant for Ameriforce in San Diego, California.

Starr has an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor in Behavioral Science from CSU Monterey Bay as well as a Human Resources Management certification from UC San Diego.
